Mr. George Ganotis

General Secretary of Co-funded Public Works of the Ministry of Environment, Planning and Public Works (M.E.P.P.W.)

The General Secretariat of Co-Funded Public Works was established by Presidential Decree 166/1996 and is responsible for the development and management of the following projects such as the New Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos", the Athens and Thessalonika Metro, the Rio-Antirrio Bridge and theMotorway of Elefsina-Stavros-Spata and Ymittos Peripheral.

Mr. Ganotis' previous posts include:

  • Advisor to the Minister of Environment, Planning and Public Works, on European Union affairs; Community Support Framework for Greece - Operational Programme "Environment" (1996)
  • Advisor to the Minister of Employment, on European Union affairs; European Community regulations relating to social issues and management of the European Social Fund (1994 - 1995).
  • Member of the Lawyers' Orders of Athens (since 1990) and Volos (1981 - 1990), specialising in corporate law
  • Scientific Expert of the Parliamentary group of PA.SO.K. within the framework of the Parliamentary Committees of the European Parliament Brussels and Strasbourg, in matters pertaining to Regional Policy and Development, Environment, Consumer Protection, Public Health (1984 - 1990)
  • Scientific Expert of the Centre of Greek Public Enterprises and Organisations, in matters pertaining to the European Union, specialising in European Institutions and Public Enterprises (1996)
  • Traineeship (stage) at the Commission of the European Communities (DG 15 - Financial Organisations, Banking Department), specialising in the liberalisation of financial services Brussels (1982 - 1983)
Mr. Ganotis attended the London School of Economics and received a degree in Economic Law (1983 - 1984) and previously attended Universite Libre of Brussels - European Law (1981 - 1983) and Law School - Aristotelian University of Thessalonika (1976 - 1980)
