Greece - US Business Council Chairman & CEO - Lavipharm Group

Born in Athens in 1948, Dr. Athanase Lavidas has spent many years outside of Greece. In 1976, he assumed the management of Lavipharm Group, the parent company of which, Lavipharm S.A., is listed on the Athens Stock Exchange since 1995. In Greece, Lavipharm is a leader in the development, manufacturing, marketing and distribution of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics with a total turnover exceeding €250 million and approximately 1000 employees.

One of the most prominent entrepreneurs in Greece, Dr. Lavidas is actively involved in a variety of professional organizations where he holds key positions: he is the Chairman of the Greece-U.S. Business Council and of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association (EENE). He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Greek Industries (SEV) as well as of the Association of Greek Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE).

He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Athens University and a Master and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Munich. He also has an MBA from the Institute of Marketing and Management in Paris, France. He is fluent in French, German and English.
