Marton Simitsek was born in 1944. He studied Finance in France, and was a Reserve Officer. He has served as General Manager of the Insurance Company Lombard Elizabethan, General Manager of the Commercial Company Devoir P.L.C., and Managing Director of the company Pente Promotion.

He is President of the Athens Ski Club since 1974, served as Vice-President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee from 1993 to 1997, at which time he was also Member of the Marketing Commission of the European Olympic Committees.

Heading the Greek Delegation to the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer (Chef de Mission), and Co-leading the Greek Delegation to the Mediterranean Games in France in 1995, as well as being a Member of the Greek Delegation to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he brought his Olympic experience to Head Operations for the Athens 2004 Bid Committee.

As of May 2000, he is Executive Director in charge of Public Relations, International Relations and Marketing of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games "Athens 2004".

Marton Simitsek is married and has two sons.
