Dr. Peter Heinrich

MediGene AG

Dr. Peter Heinrich studied biology and chemistry at the University of Munich. After receiving his doctorate in biochemistry, he worked from 1987-1988 as a postdoctoral scientist at Harvard University. Thereafter, he joined Wacker Chemicals, at this time a subsidiary of Hoechst AG, to build up its biotechnology division. He was with Wacker for seven years in different positions with different research and managerial tasks. He left Wacker in 1995 to co-found MediGene GmbH and became its Chief Executive. In 1996 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of MediGene AG. Since January 2001 Dr. Heinrich is also President and Chief Executive Officer of the newly acquired MediGene Inc., San Diego (USA).

Furthermore Dr. Heinrich is a co-founder and deputy chairman of the Association of German Biotechnology Companies (VBU), he is a member of the executive board of the "Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V." (DECHEMA), he serves on the Board of Governors of "Bayern Innovativ GmbH" and is a supervisor of the Bavarian Elite Academy. In November 2000 he was elected as a Board Member of the Emerging Biopharmaceutical Enterprises (EBE), a specialized group within the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), Brussels. Dr. Heinrich is a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Biotech Company Wilex AG (Munich).
