Only one week after having celebrated its first successful year in the Romanian market, COSMOTE Romania is pleased to announce that it has already exceeded 1.000.000 customers. During a special event held today in Bucharest, the company awarded the lucky customer number 1 million, with 1.000.000 free air minutes to any network per year, for lifetime, and a complimentary handset.

Commenting on the company's milestone, COSMOTE Romania CEO, Mr. Nikolaos Tsolas, said: "The fact that COSMOTE Romania exceeded 1 million customers in only one year of operations, is a clear indicator of the increasing market responsiveness, the growing consumers' preference as well as confidence in our company and our brand name. COSMOTE Group, already exceeding 10 million subscribers in the five SE European countries where it operates, being the provider with the widest regional presence, is targeting 15 million customers regionally in 2009, with a substantial part of this growth coming from Romania.

COSMOTE celebrated one year of fulfilled promises and successful operations in Romania on December 6th. During its first year of operations, COSMOTE Romania has expanded its network to 95% population coverage, consolidated a strong nationwide retail distribution chain of nearly 600 stores and created 300 new jobs for young professionals to reach a team of 700 employees.
