In response to the letter 1621/09.04.2008 of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission regarding an article in "EXPRESS" newspaper, according to which, "ALFA-BETA" VASSILOPOULOS S.A. is negotiating in order to acquire a super market chain in a neighboring country, our Company wishes to bring to your attention the following:

a) This article does not respond to the reality.

b) The recent acquisition of the Romanian food retail chain "LA FOURMI" by the company ΜΕGA IMAGE, which also is a member of DELHAIZE Group and operates in Romania, has possibly been incorrectly correlated with our Company's activities.

c) Once again, "ALFA-BETA" VASSILOPOULOS S.A. invites the investors to make their investing decisions based only on the official announcements and the press releases of the Company.
