October 16, 2003 PC SYSTEMS S.A., a member of the POULIADIS Group of Companies participated in the largest European Information Technology conference, "IST 2003", which was held on 2nd-3rd October 2003 in Milan, Italy. Also, the conference attended corporations, IT and telecommunication research institutes from all over Europe, where they had the chance to promote innovative technologies and communicate with prospective contractors. Also, at the "IST 2003" conference "PC SYSTEMS S.A." presented successfully its project "OPUS" (Optimal Public Procurement Service in the Healthcare market), an innovative project through which hospitals and suppliers of pharmaceuticals will be able to trade electronically and in particular, via the Internet. "OPUS" is based on technologies and optimized transactions rules aiming at upgrading the following services: i) Development of comprehensive suppliers' lists, ii) Cross check of orders and availability iii) Follow-up of orders iv) Cost of indirect alternative procurement solutions v) Design of approval procedures vi) Utilization of corporate excess stock vii) Development of distribution network for pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetic products. Furthermore, apart from the company's Research & Development Department, which manages the project and provides its know-how on electronic procurement issues, the following companies and institutions are also participating in the project: "Gnomon IT Services S.A." (a subsidiary company of "EUROCONSULTANTS S.A."), the Regional National Health Service of Thessalia, where OPUS will be used on a pilot basis, the IT Department of Berkeley University in California, U.S.A., the Belgian company "MediBRIDGE" providing telematic services in the healthcare sector, the French software provider "ILOG", the Health and Social Care Research Center of the London School of Economics, the local Health Committees of Italy and the European Office of the International Accountants' Association in Luxembourg. PC SYSTEMS S.A. with its participation in the aforementioned exhibition continues successfully to utilize innovative technologies in the IT and telecommunications sector.
