July 31, 2007 In the first half of 2007 Aegean Airlines posted a 19% rise in passenger traffic, carrying 2,338,583 total passengers on 25,628 flights. At the same time, passengers per flight rose to 91 from 89 in the comparable 2006 period. Passenger activity was dynamic during the first six months of the year as a result of healthy travel demand and continuous strengthening of the company's brand awareness. In more detail, domestic traffic grew by 12%, with Aegean Airlines carrying 1,557,253 passengers compared to 1,388,356 passengers in the comparable 2006 period. Growth in international routes was higher, reflecting efforts for further international network expansion, with Aegean Airlines transferring 781,330 passengers, 35% more compared to last year. The Greek air travel market continued to grow at a faster pace than the more mature markets of Western Europe and the company is in the best position to benefit from this growth. During the first half of 2007, Aegean Airlines introduced new direct flights from Athens to Frankfurt and Munich, code-shared with Lufthansa, doubled its frequencies to Milan whilst it also enhanced frequencies to Sofia and Bucharest. Aegean Airlines' customer-centric approach is well appreciated and continues to yield positive results. The company has reinforced its position on the domestic routes, where it has successfully stimulated demand for a second year with its early booking offers. Aegean Airlines will continue to adhere to its successful strategy of selective and focused international expansion on high-traffic routes in Europe and growing regional markets.
